MEETING OF EDA THESS WITH THE FORMER MINISTER OF MACEDONIA AND THRACE / N.D. MEMBER OF THE PARLIAMENT OF THESSALONIKI’s SECOND REGION Mr. THEODOROS KARAOGLOU

 

 

A meeting between the former Minister of Macedonia and Thrace – N.D. Member of the Parliament of Thessaloniki’s Second Region Mr. Theodoros Karaoglou and the General Manager of the Gas Distribution Company Thessaloniki-Thessalia S.A. (EDA THESS) Mr. Leonidas Bakouras was held.

The General Manager of the Gas Distribution Company Thessaloniki-Thessalia S.A. (EDA THESS) Mr. Leonidas Bakouras referred to the distinct function of the Company as Administrator of the Natural Gas Distribution Network from 30/12/2016, with legal and operational distinction from any energy activity of Transportation, Production and Trading, with a 20 year Distribution & Administration of the Distribution Network License until 2036 within the limits of the geographical area of Thessaloniki’s Prefecture and Thessaly’s administrative region.

Mr. Bakouras presented the main axes of EDA THESS Development Program which concern the increase of natural gas penetration, new connections and distribution volumes, compliance with rules and specifications of the Distribution Network, natural gas installations, provision of high quality level service to the Customers and Distribution Users. In particular he focused on the appliance of Licenses and the regulatory framework as well as in the forefront for the formulation of policies and actions in the regulated environment of Distribution. In addition, the realization of investments that ensure high efficiency, the full organizational and functional autonomy of EDA THESS in connection with the provision of distribution services in the most economical, transparent and direct way, without discrimination between the Distribution Users ,were pointed out.

Regarding the increase of natural gas penetration and in order to connect to the Natural Gas network to even more inhabitants EDA THESS plans to expand the Network in existing areas and in 11 new areas in Thessaloniki’s regional unit and 12 new areas in Thessaly’s region.

Network expansion for existing and new areas will be conducted through pipeline (in total for the period of 2017 -2017 427 km 4bar and 11 km 19bar) as well as with compressed natural gas.

Specifically, as far as it concerns Thessaloniki’s Regional Unit the new areas where Network is going to be developed are the following: Lagkadas of Lagkadas Municipality, Chalastra of Delta Municipality (CNG), Trilofos-Plagiari and Vassilika of Thermi Municipality, Filyro and Chortiatis of Pylea-Chortiatis Municipality, Michaniona-Epanomi of Thermaikos Municipality and Koufalia (CNG) - Nea Mesimvria of Chalkidona Municipality.

Mr Bakouras stressed that the establishment of the legal and regulatory framework in the near future, is necessary in order to comply with the timetable of the Gas Distribution Company Thessaloniki-Thessalia (EDA THESS) Development Plan regarding new areas which are going to be supplied with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

Furthermore, he mentioned that the promotion of "100% OFF CONNECTION FEES" is still running for all new consumers who will sign a Connection Contract for the natural gas network and for all types of consumption (Household, Commercial, Small Craft-Industrial, Public-Municipal buildings). New Connection concerns the construction of the delivery point (up to the natural gas meter installation) which is Gas Distribution Company Thessaloniki-Thessalia (EDA THESS) responsibility. As a result consumer gains significant benefits as 100% OFF CONNECTION FEES and has to pay the price for the internal installation.

Mr. Karaoglou on his side pointed out Company’s consistent multiannual presence in the Regional Unity of Thessaloniki through its investment plans for the development of the gas distribution network. He also mentioned that network expansion allows citizens to gain benefits from the use of natural gas in economic and environmental terms. Finally he thanked EDA THESS for its effective cooperation with the Local Agents and Authorities as well as fir its social action.
