The contract for the connection of the industry "B. Maliouris SA" to the natural gas distribution network of EDA THESS was signed.
An additional of 4 million Nm3 {45,000 MWh) of natural gas will be distributed annually by EDA THESS as the plant’s requirements of the production activity are particularly high. According to the strategic planning, EDA THESS, expands the use of natural gas and integrates into the network industries with high energy intensity, offering energy and resources savings, and environmental footprint improvement.
B. Maliouris S.A is part of the Maliouris Group, which is one of the largest industries producing housing and construction products in Greece, with a history of 90 years in the field of construction. The organized production of handmade ceramic products has evolved into a modern industry with building facilities of 15,000 sqm, in Chalastra of the Municipality of Delta in Thessaloniki. In order to meet the market’s needs, the Company follows new technological developments and implements modern production methods that offer innovative products and at the same time contribute to the reduction of pollutants.
The Manager of Natural Gas Market Development of EDA THESS, Mr. Michalis Stergiopoulos in this context, stated that the completion of the interconnection works of Chalastra with the 19bar medium pressure gas distribution network, will enable the connection of industry V. Maliouris S.A to be made in early 2021, a fact that will give further impetus and strengthen its position towards competition. Natural gas will be used in preheating appliances, ovens and dryers of the industry, with a total installed capacity of ~ 17.000kW, while the maximum gas consumption per hour will be equal to 1,700 cubic meters and the supply pressure 2 bar. EDA THESS, with its high expertise and consistency in its planning, reinforces the infrastructure and develops the distribution network, supporting the industry and the local economy in the areas of the License.
