The decisive role of natural gas in the development of the industrial sector, was the focus of the meeting that held between the President of the Federation of Industries of Greece (SBE), Mr. Athanasios Savvakis, the General Manager of EDA THESS, Mr. Leonidas Bakouras and executives of the Company.
During the meeting, Mr. Savvakis was informed by the General Manager about the implementation of low distribution tariffs, which significantly reduce energy costs. Mr. Bakouras added that the new proposal of the Company's tariffs to the Authority brings about an even greater reduction in the distribution tariffs compared to those of the previous regulatory period. This development will be exploited by the entire energy sector and especially the industries with high energy consumption.
For his part, Mr. Savvakis, considered that the shaping of low distribution tariffs very important for the industry and added that the strategy of EDA THESS strengthens further the perspective of the infrastructures development in Northern Greece, for the benefit of consumers, competition and economy. Finally, he asked for the maintenance of two-way communication, for the update of the members of the Association about energy issues.
The development of the natural gas distribution network in Sindos Industrial Area of Thessaloniki but also in all areas of the License of EDA THESS, continues at a fast pace. Combined with the energy savings, the right conditions are created, offering incentives that strengthen the industrial companies, and at the same time the business interest for new investments is aroused.
As the increase of the penetration of natural gas is a key goal set in the Plan for Climate and Energy for the reduction of pollutants and at the same time encourages the development of the economy, through the implementation of productive investments for the country’s industrial reconstruction.
