VISIT OF ENI Gas e Luce AT THE DECOMPRESSION STATION OF EDA THESS IN LAGKADAS THESSALONIKI
The CEO of ENI Gas e luce S.p.A., Mr. Alberto Chiarini, the Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs Mr. Pietro Galizzi, the General Manager Mr. Leonidas Bakouras and executives of the Gas Distribution Company Thessaloniki-Thessalia S.A. (EDA THESS), have visited the most technologically updated decompression station of EDA THESS in Lagkadas, Thessaloniki, which may directly supply the area with natural gas. During his visit, Mr. Chiarini had the chance to discuss with the Mayor of Lagkadas, Mr. Yannis Karagiannis, the Deputy Governor of Central Macedonia, Mr. Theophanis Papas, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of EDA THESS, Mr. Venetis Bouras and Mr. Pantelis Manis, member of the Board of Directors.
Mr. Chiarini expressed his satisfaction for the Company’s progress and results, which are confirmed by the high levels of gas penetration in the License areas, where 57% of the population is already using Natural Gas and underlined the commitment of ENI gas e luce to continue to support EDA THESS’ investment program, with the aim of the network’s further expansion and the satisfaction of the consumers’ and businesses’ requests.
According to Mr. Chiarini, EDA THESS, whose management is run by Eni gas e luce, is a pioneer of the natural gas energy sector in Greece. Having the appropriate know - how, the Company has already completed the relevant works on the facilities of the decompression stations in two municipalities, Lagkadas and Tyrnavos, always with a view of the secure network supply and the uninterrupted supply of natural gas to consumers, but also, the technical sufficiency of the natural gas infrastructure. According to the Development Program 2018-2022, EDA THESS will proceed in 2018 to the installation of 6 additional decompression stations in order to connect the remote areas to the Natural Gas network and, following the completion of the regulatory framework, is ready to supply them with natural gas.
Mr. Bakouras mentioned that the investments for the expansion of the network are realized with technical and economic criteria ensuring their return and also the maintenance of the distribution tariffs at the lowest levels of the natural gas market in Greece and, thus, providing a benefit to the End Consumer. The Company, throughout its operations and taking into account the above, will continue its development as a leader of the Natural Gas Industry in Greece, creating prospects with innovative actions, updated infrastructure and pioneering technologies.
The Mayor of Lagkadas, on his turn, pointed out that the supply of remote areas with natural gas will contribute to the reduction of Local Government expenses and will also provide the possibility to households and businesses to benefit from a more economical and eco-friendly fuel.
Mr. Papas stressed the consumers’ high satisfaction and acceptance for the use of natural gas in the wider area of the Region of Thessaloniki, as well as the support of the Region of Central Macedonia with a funding of € 15 million in natural gas network works by European programs.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors Mr. Bouras and the member of the Board of Directors, Mr. Manis, pointed out that EDA THESS is a role model and congratulated the administration for its efforts, while complimented its excellent and effective cooperation with the stakeholders. The remarkable work carried out by the Company is reflected in the strong interest of citizens to connect with natural gas and in consumer’s satisfaction. They also confirmed the positive results of the Company and emphasized the prospects in the natural gas market with the implementation of new technologies.
The next meeting is expected in a short time period in the Municipality of Lagkada in terms for the network supply as there are already more than 1,000 applications that are going to be activated during winter so that consumers can benefit from its use.
